In days of old, before snowmobiles or four-wheelers, many of my Scandanavian ancestors who had settled in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan would don snowshoes or cross country skis and take to the countryside on a day like this with new snow and partly sunny skies. In my younger years I would often trek out into the woods or farm fields with my .22 and my dog to chase cottontails on such days. New snow is great for hunting them because any tracks you found were fresh and led you to the bunny in no time, and besides, playing in the snow was just plain fun. Chris
