Just wondering if anybody knows if a brass grip frame from a BP Colt or clone would be able to be fitted to a New Frontier SA. I assume it would require the backstrap too and possibly the mainspring.I am thinking of something like an 1860 Colt Army or similar. Chris S

certanly. A grip from an 1851 Navy is the same as the SAA. Also the grip from an 1860 Army fits. Brownells used to sell a grip frame for a Ruger in brass. That is what I have on my Ruger. Adds weight to the grip area, to balance the gun better. It also reduces recoil. Maybe they make one for the Colt.

Thankyou Gunny!

Dixie sells the grip frame and backstrap in brass that is listed as a 1860-1851 etc, Revolvers so that would do the trick. What about the mainspring? Is that the same? Chris S

yes the main spring on an

yes the main spring on an 1851 is the same as the spring on a 1873. An 1860 is a longer affair. Elmer used one when he made the No5, He used the Bisley and 1860 with mods.
