Daisy Air Guns

On one of my other posts I spoke about purchasing a Air Gun for my son.  It was his first gun and I wanted it to be a positive experience much like my first air gun so we got a Daisy Grizzly.  After about 400 BBs it broke.  If anyone is buying their son/daughter an air gun, I would suggest staying away from Daisy - made in China junk.  The loading door that slides back is made from plastic and it broke off.  Not to mention the entire gun, with the exception of the thin barrell and a thin tin like material covering the plastic that surrounds the barrell, is plastic and not worth the $82.00 CDN spent on it.
We returned the Grizzly and purchased a more expensive ($55.00 CDN more) Remington.  So far after over 500 BBs and 200 pellets (.177) the gun is working fine.
Daisy definitely is not what it was 25 years ago.

I am sorry your Daisy experience was so bad, I have a few of them but they are for the most part old ones that I acquired over the years. My last new one was purchased when they had the Red Ryder anniverary issue but it is in a box and as yet never shot. My best ones are the original models with the removable barrel and real wood stocks. I have an old original that is probably as old as me????picked up years ago for dirt cheap and another one that is a good shooter that I picked up at a gun show a couple of years ago for $10.00. It needed a foreend but that was quickly  fixed with a piece of red maple and some wood working. It is actually in quite good shape and I think that may be a good place to look for a B-B gun, yard sales, garage sales or even gun shows. I don't know how such things are handled up there but you would love an "OLD' Daisy  if you could get your hands on one. I hope the Remington continues to give you good use. That's my old Daisy on the right!  Chris

Chris, thanks for the tip.  I will keep my eye out when rooting around at yard sales, flea markets and the like.
