I just acquired a 629-4 Mountain Gun, .44 Magnum in excellent condition.  It has the factory Hogue rubber grips that feel good, but look "not so good" on this model revolver.  I was disappointed to find so few options on line.  Can anyone suggest sources for either factory or after market alternative grips?  I would prefer wood grips, slim for carry.  Many thanks, Ed

I didn't see round butt grips on their site but at least give them a call, good people. Have a set for my 1911.

Admin:  Thanks for your

Admin:  Thanks for your suggestions.  Some of the grips available through Brownells look great.  And, of course, the Herrett quality is very well known.  There are a couple of local gunshows in the next two weeks, so I plan to see what's there before making a decision.  I understand that S&W used to offer wood grips for their N-frame RB revolvers, so who knows what might show up?  Best Regards,  Ed

grips

Kim Ahrends makes some really nice grips and priced right. you can buy them from a dealer on ebay. Put ahrends grips in the search area and thst'll take you to her store. Her name is Terry and she ships next day. I've bought several sets from her.

Grips

I should have added that on Terry"s site- the grips that you see are the actual grips that you get. I've also bought S&W grips from Eagle Grips- the only thing about them is that the selection of woods is very limited. I've always found the fit to be very good and the service is great but since I found Terry's site- I almost always buy from her. If you order from Kim direct- expect to wait about 4 to 6 weeks but- the grips are worth it, I always go for the oil finish too- takes a bit longer but it really is worth it. You can call Kim or his wife and ask for a certain color in the grips if you  like. They are in Iowa and do a great job. You can find his website by doing a search for ahrends grips. Good luck.

Hey Ed.  I have a set of nice

Hey Ed.  I have a set of nice carry grips for sale.  They are Eagle grips that came on my 629 PC.  Here is what they look like on my gun:

They are in like new condition as I took them off almost immediately after getting the gun.  I wanted something without finger grooves.  I am asking $75.00 for these grips.  Let me know if you are interested.
