S&W 44 AMERICAN

This is the S&W documented model 3 second issue 1872 44 AMERICA that I had aquired. I knew if I kept it I would get ammo and shoot it, so it went to a respected S&W collector a few days ago. I loved the feel of this weapon and have never owned anything I would not shoot, I was afraid shooting cold have damaged this piece of history. Sorry it took so long to post a picture, computer/camera download issues. I did get a 1917 S&W in 45 ACP as part of the deal.

OK, How did it shoot?

Great looking piece of history, I was in great admiration and even adoration of one when I read an article as a kid about what a good weapon it was. Unfortunately I was never lucky enough to acquire one but I can assure you I definitely would be shooting it if I had. So I just have to know, did you finally shoot it and did you have fun? Chris S

No, I did not shoot it. I found out through SN checks that the berrel and cyl. had diffrent numbers and they had most likely been replaced over 100 years ago. I was told it timed good and was tight enough to shoot but it being my first pre 1900 piece I let a S&W major collector in my area have it. Part of the trade was I recieved a 1917 S&W in 45 ACP that is really nice and I can/will shoot. I am new to forums and just a country boy that joined the NAVY and learned to love fixing airplanes and helocopters. Thanks for the thoughts.     Mike H.
