Been watching the show "Hell on Wheels" Time frame post Civil War. The main character has a sixgun that was referred to as "Griswold" (spelling?) several times, can't get a really good look at it. Anyone know if this is a slang name for a sixgun or does it signify something more? Manufacturer?

My first black powder replica was a copy of the Griswold and Gunnison. IIRC it was one of Navy Arms first replicas. You found the history on it so you can see it was chosen as a replica for the same reasons the Confederates chose it-cost of manufacture.
Hey hows it going im new to this my grandpa handed down to me a 1901 colt frontier six 44-40 its in almostperfect cond. Whats something like this worth?
....Merry Christmas.
Sounds like a rare find in a room full of rare finds.
I'm sure someone will come along and give you an opinion, What's it worth to you?
It is very cool. It shoots like a dream only prob is it does not have the orignal grips. Someone put wood grips on it. I orderd some Reproduction grips with the colt and the eagle on it so do you think that is a bad thing? They look original.
Shelby: Depending on what you want to spend, there are some original grips out there......Try this site first http://www.coltparts.com/parts1.html Chris
