I got some new leather, really like it and thought I'd show off a little. Here's my flat top .44 Spl with a Simply Rugged floral carved Sourdough.
Here's my S&W 642 in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar pancake with ammo pouch. Both have Celtic Knot carving. It's more comfortable than I thought it would be to wear IWB. Thanks Rob!

That's some nice carry rigs Wes! Rob turns out some great skins. Thanks for puttin' these up for slobber effect.
I have about a half dozen of their holsters, and theyre terrific. I've never ordered anything other than plain versions. After seeing your holsters I may have to go a little fancier next time.
Very nice looking rigs !
I also own two of their rigs, great wormanship at a fair price. My 044 spl New Model Black Hawk carries like its not there, a blessing to this old horse.
Are the simply rugged holsters lined, or available lined? Some of my packin guns have blued finishes.
Bill
I like that Sourdough. Looks like it could be worn crossdraw as well as strong side. I like crossdraw for SAA's when I am driving.
Mike
Bill,
Mine are not lined. In the FAQ on Simply Rugged's website, they state that lining is detrimental to a gun's finish because it will hold dirt that will scratch the surface of the firearm.
Wes
In their sale section, they have a lined holster. My holster for my 1950 S&W 44 Special is lined in blue suede. It was made in 1978 by Grizzly Saddlery in Great Falls, MT. Guess he used a 'non-scratch' leather. Or maybe I'm prissy and don't put dirt in my holster. From my reading in other forums, it's a matter of personal preference. I think a guy should have what he wants.

True statement.

Definitely get what you want. I used to make a few of my own holsters when I was a youngun and found that if I made it right, fitted it to the gun by wetting and "boning" it didn't wear the gun much. Lined holsters I made were harder to fit and I gave up lining and stuck with unlined. I think that's what Rob is saying too, lining complicates things and isn't needed. I like the Simply Rugged stuff and highly recommend it but if you want lined then definitely get your leather lined. Good shooting. Chris S
A crossdraw from Simply Rugged
Nice looking one-piece grips, Chris. Did you do them yourself? I think One Piecers look terrific on sixguns. It is a source of sorrow to me that Rugers can't have them. My old SBH has carved black ones, but I always wish the screw wasn't necessary. Of course, I always remind myself of Somerset Maugham's statement, "There is nobody so rigid as a convert".
Mike
They are some old Ajax faux ivory before they went under. I finished them to fit and they are great. I took them off recently when I was doing some polishing on my Colt and temporarily put my handmade walnut two piece grips on until I am sure I don't need to take the thing apart again. Once I am sure I will put the one piece back on. Chris S
Good on ya.
Mike
