Has anyone replaced the fixed rear sight on an old 3 screw flat top Ruger single six? Many years ago, a friend was twirling my single six, and he dropped it on a cement floor, coming down on the corner of the rear sight, mashing one side. I was thinking about using a brass drift to remove the old one, and install the new one I received from Ruger. Is there anything I should know in regard to replacing it in the dovetail? Thanks for any info you can give me. Jim
Hi Jim: In my experience dovetail sights usually drift in from the right so to remove one it would probably be best to drive it out from the left. I don't know if this is right or wrong for your single six but a few taps should let you know pretty quick if it is going to come out or not. I am open to anyone else's suggestions too. Chris S
