HI Ya'll: Just finished reading an article by Ross Seyfried on the Lipsey .44 Special Bisley and in the article he explains Taylor Throating in the barrel, a gunsmith procedure he used to increase the accuracy of the guns he was shooting. It involves reaming a smooth portion of the barrel just forward of the forcing cone to allow the bullet to align before it spins. He says it improves the accuracy, does anyone know of this process and igf it works? Chris

Thanks Black-Talon, those are some interesting reads. I guess the question would be if it's worth it or not or how finicky are we about the accuracy of our gun. I am primarily a plinker who shoots informally and I probably won't opt to spend the time or money but it is a very interesting subject. Thanks again for the info. Chris

Barrel Throating

Bob Munden has long offered as one of his standard services putting an 11 degree ream at the forcing cone and saysit does wonders for accuracy. I also think this is a service other smihs do also. I wish I would have had Mr. Bowen do it to my Bisley he built up for me in my picture years ago. Bob Mundens website details why he feels so strongly about it if I remember correctly.
