This the the subscrition knife I received way back then. Not quite like the picture but close. I wonder if there were actually several variations or what?
And this is my new one! CHRIS
who made the subscription Knife? Just wondering. were the finger grooves in the handle there originally? Nice knife. If you ever want to sell it, let me know.
The old knife is stamped Japan on the blade and in a letter Elmer, in fact, commented on the fact that they were Japanese made, but said his son had one and thought it was not a bad knife. Whether Elmer liked it or not he never said. Yes, the finger grooves were in the handle, I have not changed anything on it other than to patch a chip in the handle where the pommel cap is pinned with some epoxy. The knife stays sharp very well and I have used it on many deer over the years for skinning. I think it has a fairly good quality metal in the blade and holds an edge for that reason. Not for sale right now, I think either my daughter or my wife will end up with it. Chris
We talked a bit about Elmer's knife and some old ads. Chris
This is my version of Elmers knife made to specs I sent to maker
Wow! That is a fine knife! The workmanship looks supurb. Nice wood for the handle. Chris
Chris, Thanks for your words...The blade is 3/8" thick like Keith specified on his original. Just made a few changes here and there...
A little different then above....
