Shortest time I ever spent in the woods

Have you ever had one of those "plans" when you get into the woods. You know where you just know that if you end up in the woods at point A at a certain time that something will happen? Well, during our southern zone opener this year I knew that if I could get out in the woods ahead of the locals I had a shot. Well, I did it, got out there just before light and was set up on a downed tree when a whitetail buck came through. I used a bleat can and within seconds this ten pointer turned around and came straight in. One shot with my 16 gauge Deerslayer and he went down. Right there on the spot. I had been sitting down for ten minutes. I had the deer dressed and dragged out of the woods by 8am.

Nice!

David, sorry I missed this back when you first posted it. That is a very nice deer and an excited and happy looking son too, hope you teach him to hunt just like that when he's old enough. By the way, one of my "early in my hunting life" deer hunts ended with a nice fat spike taken with an old 12 gauge pump and slug. Good hunting in the future. Chris
