Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy it here. Chris
I'm looking for info on the 338/74...reloading, reamers, loading dies, etc. Anything out there?
If I remember correctly, which I don't often do, the 338-74 was one of Elmer's early attempts to get .333 caliber bullets into a cartridge of greater capacity than the 06 had... He necked a 9.3x74 case down to .333 diameter and started with that, then worked up over the years to the .333 OKH (?) and then eventually got up to the 338/378 which ended up being a flat shooting elk cartridge which Remington mimics closely with the 338 RUM cartridge. I would imagine the reamers for the 338-74 would be special order from Clymer's or one of several other reamer makers. The load data I don't know about, perhaps in Gunotes Volume 1 or 2 or in Elmer's Letters book there may be some talk about it. Gunsmith here on this forum is a Keith buff who has extensive material on Keith. You may ask him for more info, I'm sure he would be glad to help. Check the Ask Elmer topic here and check out Gunsmith. Chris
