Sixguns

This is my 1980 Ruger Super Blackhawk. It is fitted with imitation stag grips and has a Wiegand front sight base which takes any of the inserts that fit the S&W sights.

Ever since I was old enough to to remember I loved guns and cowboy stuff. As I grew older I acquired a .22 rifle and a shotgun and later on I used my older brothers 03-A3 to hunt deer, but I didn't have a handgun. In about 1964 I had to have one and finally dragged my Mother to the sportshop to help me buy one (I wasn't 21 yet). Back in those days of pre gun law mania this was acceptable if the person was a responsible type who didn't get into trouble and knew how to handle firearms safely. The clerk showed us several cowboy type revolvers and explained the merits of each one.

While reading one of Elmers old magazine articles he talked about a new mainspring for his Colt SAA upgrades and said it was a Vee shaped spring that was unbreakable and a vast improvement over the stock flat spring. Has anyone ever experimented with this type of spring anymore or did it fade away as Elmer improved or changed his guns? Chris

Seems to be going pretty well so far. Since this is the sixguns section I'll try my post here. Had my Colt NF 45 out last few days trying handloads to sight in so they matched my standard factory load. I use Magtech 250 grain loads as a factory reference and loaded various loads until I got one to shoot to the same point as the factory sample. Finally got it done and am happy with that. Hate cleaning though. It's like eating a fine meal and then having to do the dishes afterwards! Just kidding, at this stage in my life any gun work is fun, period. Chris
