Al Capone's Gun Special for Gunsmith
Submitted by chris3755 on Fri, 06/17/2011 - 18:33Hey Gunny, I think you should check out the auction at Christie's in London and put a bid in on Al's gun. It is a chrome plated Colt 38 special made in 1929. It has a letter from a relative indicating it was Al's gun and you can get in for around 70,000 pounds ($114,000.) I think it is probably not up to the S&W standards you prefer but it is close as it was made back when handfitting was still in vogue. Chris
I picked up another Model 10
Submitted by David LaPell on Sat, 04/23/2011 - 04:22I found another Model 10 since I needed a warm weather carry gun. I snagged this little 10-5. It had a set of Pachmayr's on it but I put these old wooden grips on it.

I decided to go back to the big hoss for a change
Submitted by David LaPell on Sun, 04/10/2011 - 05:08I was at a local gunshop today when I spotted a revolver that has always peaked my interest. It was a New Model Vaquero in .45 Colt with the 7 1/2 inch barrel in blued finish and in like new condition. I had always wanted one of these to try on whitetails and I figure with the right cast bullet. So i put a deposit on it and now I have something to strive for.

OF SIXGUNS AND HEROES
Submitted by mbarranti on Sun, 04/03/2011 - 23:17Some folks collect every variation of a particular model of handgun. Others only collect Old Models, while still others choose different brands. Our own Robb Barnes, set out to have custom sixguns built by every one of our most talented gunsmiths, he called it his Custom Sixgun Quest.

Handgun Black Bear hunting
Submitted by nova scotia 44 mag on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 23:02I always wanted to hunt large game with a hangun. Then one day the opportunity arose. I found myself on the ground with 44 mag in hand. Five rounds and as they say loaded for bear. I had my own loads - 240 grain Hornady XTP hollow points, 21.8 grains of 2400 powder with a heavy crimp in a S&W Model 29 Classic. It was a two year old black bear early in the hunting season. He was healthy and his coat was shining in the sunlight.
Cap N Ball revolvers
Submitted by David LaPell on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 05:49Is anyone here into the Cap-N-Ball revolvers? I have had a few, a Walker, a Dragoon, and my latest is this Pietta 1860 Army .44. I actually owned this gun twice. I bought it new, then traded to a gun shop where it sat for about two years until I traded another gun for it, still unfired in the box. I have competed with it twice in blackpowder matches, and twice it has helped my take a bronze medal. Here it is with the first one. I have another match coming up in June.
A pair of shooters
Submitted by David LaPell on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 01:52This is one I got a while back, a M & P in .32-20 that someone filed down the front sight on to give it kind of a bead. I added the Wondersight to it to make it a bit more accurate. I am waiting to go after some squirrels and grouse with this one.
Late 1940's Military & Police
Submitted by David LaPell on Fri, 01/28/2011 - 01:46This is my bread & butter gun. It goes in the rain, the dirt, the snow etc. Right now it is taking a time out because Bowen Arms is straightening out the ejector rod. I took the time to send out to the Roy Jinks for a letter. The gun is from the late 1940's and shoots better than it looks. It loves my light handloads of a 158 grain SWC and 3.8 grains of Win 231. Waiting for the cylinder to come back in hopefully by next week so I can take it out for some coyote hunting.
