Anything sixgun related

New man in the chow line

Hello to everyone,

Why a sixgun, or a handgun at all?

"Why a sixgun or a handgun at all?"

Going back to the big hoss

I was at a local gunshop today when I spotted a revolver that has always peaked my interest. It was a New Model Vaquero in .45 Colt with the 7 1/2 inch barrel in blued finish and in like new condition. I had always wanted one of these to try on whitetails and I figure with the right cast bullet. So i put a deposit on it and now I have something to strive for.

Chamber differences in Sixguns

I've heard over the years an interesting comment: That Sixguns are indeed 6 guns in one, because each chamber in the cylinder is unique. Further, I've also heard that sixguns can have a "sweet" chamber, or a "poor" chamber. I got to wondering, if anyone here has similar-or dis similar experiences.

Got a new pair of shoes for the Outdoorsman, a set of maple grips from Ahrends and a trigger shoe to boot.

S&W 66

I just purchased an S&W Model 66-7. I would like to send it in to a gunsmith to be worked on. Nothing extreme. Just to make it a little better for duty carry.
I am thinking about sending it to S&W for their Master Revolver Action Package or Teddy Jacobson for his Street Reliability Package. I have never had such work done in the past and would like to know if any of you have and what I could expect from the two.
Thanks,
Chris

I need help from the Colt SAA Afficianados

The short  form is that I am about to inherit a Colt SA. To make it short, it is a "basket case". .41 LC  black powder frame. And that is about all I can say on the positive side. It still has the correct angles and flats but the markings are abot gone, they went after the finish left.  It has only been in the family since we bought it in about '69 at our family antique shop. If it were "fammily" I wouldn't touch it. Anyway, I don't feel it is material for a Turnbull level restoration and I think my Dad would want me to rebuild it as a shooter like he always wanted to.

Colt LTD edition

A lil note that might be of interest to those well heeled sixgunners here-or to those willing to take on more debt. Colt is slated to release a Wiley Clapp edition SAA. It'll be Colt Royal blue, rosewood stocks, 6.5" barrel. Calibers will be the venerable .45 Colt, and yes-the .44 Special.  Look for MSRP in the $1450 range, + or -. Colt and Talo have issued the WC Commander. Looks like they are going to follow it up with the SAA.

The .41 Special

I know John Taffin has done alot of work with the .41 Special, and I have kind of adopted the little cartridge because I find that it is alot of fun to shoot especially when I had my 4 5/8 Blackhawk and now my Smith Model 57. I was wondering if he had ever tried to get the ammo companies to do anything with it. I have written a few, got some favorable response but for the most part it seems that they all think it is a dead end cartridge, especially since alot of them have even written off the .41 Magnum.

Single Action concealed Carrry

Anybody carry an SA as their concealed carry choice? I generally carry one of two tupperware guns or a S&W model 36 with a three inch barrel. After a lifetime of shooting SA's my heart says "chuck the plastic guns and carry one", but my head says "speedloaders and extra mags are there for Murphy's law" (Which is why I carry in the first place)
