We have company for the Fourth. One of the step-daughters and her boyfriend. They were walking around the place and spotted a rat going into one of the "Garbage" cans I use for horse feed. This is not exactly an earth shattering unique experience mind you, but their being "City Folk" had them concerned. OK, so I was not happy to have my morning coffee interrupted, the rat had to pay. I have a variety of suitable tools for such problems but have really developed a liking for my Ruger Single-Six fixed sight "Vaquero" type.

TLA #5
Submitted by Jamesfromjersey on Wed, 06/29/2011 - 16:46This is a Texas Longhorn Arms #5 in 45 Colt I ordered from Bill Grover after hunting with him at the YO ranch. The backstarp is engraved "Made for James F. Swidryk by Bill Grover- Inventor". I never expected Mr. Grover to engrave those words as it was a complete surprise. The front sight has a brass elevation bar across the face.
Schofield?
Submitted by mworkmansr on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 13:26Has anybody seen one of the new Uberti Schofields with the nickle finish? I usually have an unpleasant name for shiny or plastic guns, but the Schofield caught my eye. Of course, I have a nickle gun, an old j-frame Smith in 32 S&W Long. I just feel a craving coming on. I finished up 4 weeks of workshops at a local University and have a sizable check coming. In addition, does anybody have much experience with a Schofield, nickle or not in 45 LC? I don't see much in the way of write-ups about them.
Maybe I'm just goofy.
Haven't been around, been busy "forty-four'ing"
Submitted by countrygun on Mon, 06/27/2011 - 11:32Between having company (when summer comes and you live "on the coast" you suddenly have lots of friends and relatives), and playing with some new beauties I have been a bit remiss in checking the Forum.
I have declared this to be "The summer of .44"
Re: Best Two Hand Grip
Submitted by Musicman on Mon, 06/20/2011 - 08:44Hey Guys,
I just got a Ruger Bisley Hunter - great gun. It feels very comfortable in my hand, but I feel like my two hold isn't optimal. At the moment, I have my RH on the grip w/ my LH fingers covering my RH fingers. My right thumb is over my left thumb. Is this the best way, or should I cup my LH underneath of my right?
Any opinions welcomed.

The Duke ranks the .45 ACP as best
Submitted by Mak on Tue, 05/17/2011 - 17:42In the latest issue of AHG, Mike Venturino finally lays it on the line, and commits to what in his opinion, is the best 6 gun cartridge. He ranks the .45 ACP as top dog. Leave it to the Duke to take the eternal question-best 6 gun round-and put it on its' ear! But then, it got me to thinking-Wasn't it Skeeter Skelton who opined that the best autoloader round was chambered in a 6 gun? I have known of folks who take either the Autorim, or the ACP, and load with a 250-255 gr. bullet for field purposes.

Submitted by JBOGGS on Mon, 05/16/2011 - 07:02Hello all. I recently picked up a Ruger BH 44 special with 4 5/8 barrel. I am looking at holsters and wanted some advice. Besides Simply rugged, Mernickle and El Paso, would anyone recomend a belt holster company that they like.
Thanks

Please excuse the new guy here, I have an unusual amount of spare time on my hands. I also have .44 Spl Fever and I've got it bad.
