I would like to direct our readers to GUNS magazine, March 2012 issue. Mr. Taffin has penned a review of the long awaited New Frontier, with several handloads as well as factory fodder. If after reading his review you don't want one of your own, well your heart must not be beating!
Sixguns
Smith and Wesson sight inserts
Submitted by Horsetrader Jack on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 22:31A couple of years ago, I came across a mismarked revolver at the gun show. As I looked into a virtual 'pile' of sixguns of various flavors I noticed what appeared to be a 4" Model 29. Looking closer, the tag attached to it said M-19 with a decent price for a 19. After getting permission and trying not to look to pumped up, I handled it and found it to be a Model 29-2 with no blue wear and that fine smooth action so common to those revolvers. I negotiated a deal which would have been excellent for a 19 and was over the top for a 29 (about 300 less than any at the show, damn I feel guilty.
Griswold
Submitted by admin on Sat, 12/24/2011 - 12:20Been watching the show "Hell on Wheels" Time frame post Civil War. The main character has a sixgun that was referred to as "Griswold" (spelling?) several times, can't get a really good look at it. Anyone know if this is a slang name for a sixgun or does it signify something more? Manufacturer?

Grips for the new Flat Top
Submitted by Irascible on Fri, 12/23/2011 - 09:43I bought a couple of last years Lipsey special edition 44 Special revolvers. These were the first specials and had the XR3 grip frame. Fine guns, but I'm used to my large frame Bisleys and these grips are just too short. I called Ruger about changing to the Bisley grip frame used on the current Lipsey specials and they said they didn't do that but would be glad to sell me the parts for $265 WHEN they get some in stock. My question is does anyone know of a grip maker who makes/sells extended stocks.

Submitted by countrygun on Fri, 11/18/2011 - 21:52I was helping my LGS owner sort through an estate acquisition and we found an interesting holster. Neither of us collect these, or have the proper gun that needs one, so he asked me if anyone on "That revolver Forum" might have an interest. I wouldn't be comfortable "advertising" for him but it is just the kind of thing Id like to see find the right home. I have no skin in the game and he promised to be very fair to any friend of mine. Since Id like to consider the members here as friends I thought I'd post it up.
Black Powder for .357 Mag or .38 Special
Submitted by Horsetrader Jack on Wed, 11/09/2011 - 16:44Has anyone out there loaded black powder loads in either of these calibers? My CAS guns are Uberti Cattlmen 5.5" .38 special or .357 Magnum and tend to shoot high so lighter bullets and hotter loads bring them to point of aim. I prefer to use .38 cases as my Rifle has an 18" barrel and to load 10 rounds I have to seat the bullets deep (1.540) in .357 cases, which is OK for CAS but prefer to load everything to spec. I have been using 125 RNFP over stout Trail Boss or Unique but would like to give Black powder a whirl. I have a brass drop tube and am also wondering about a funnel.
